A Muse bumper card!

So, September is almost gone. And you know how I started the bumper card thing with my SU! customers in January? Well, that has taken off and everyone seems to be loving sending and receiving and seeing new ideas. Then in August, I started the bumper card society among fellow bloggers. And that went to countries I never imagined. This month I thought our A Muse yahoo group might be a fun place to do some bumper cards. And some how I actually joined the list rather than just organize it. Know what that means right? I had to make a card … and fast!

Here’s my bumper card for September:

In the picture the card isn’t folded. I wanted to show the whole scene. But the “back” of the card has the 3 buildings on the left. It’s hard to tell but all the windows have diamond glaze on them and there is glitter on the store signs, etc. The sun is from a Martha Stewart punch (GASP!) that I got at Michael’s for 40% off. That’s the only way I was getting it! The sentiment says “I’d rather be stamping!” If only…

Anyway, I hope the receiver likes it!

Blog candy winner!

Thanks so much to those of you that advertised for me. I really appreciate it. I’m not a huge fan of self promotion but I really want this store in Austin to carry A Muse stamps.

And now, drum roll please……

Congrats Rachel. Be sure to check out her blog!

Thanks everyone for reading my journey. I never would have imagined blog writing to be as fun as it is.

Fire Ants continued…

First, BLOG CANDY still available here until 10 pm Central tonight.

So, I went to the allergist to see if and what they can do for me about these darn fire ants. Well, there’s good news and bad (isn’t that always the case?). More good, in the long run… that’s always pleasant.

The good news is that I can get allergy shots for fire ants. More good news is that long term it will make me less likely to die from a SINGLE ant bite.

The bad news is that:
* one ant bite can do me in
* most likely I’m severely allergic to all stinging insects…. wasps, bees, yellow jackets, hornets, etc.
* the shots are for the rest of my life 😦

Again, given that “death is on the line” (remember that line from Princess Bride?”, the good news is GOOD NEWS.

So, I’m a little freaked out that all insects are potentially hazardous but as my husband said “when’s the last time I was stung by anything?” Um, high school because I’m BUG PHOBIC. Guess that’s a good thing, eh?

And those of you that know me… I can’t stand thinking about the negative… so, on the bright side – I am EXEMPT from Lawn Duties from here on out. 😉

Thank you all for your kind words and concerns. I’m doing GREAT! Just a bit in shock from today’s visit… but it’s all good.

Hug those ones you love today because (wait for it…:) )…. there is “No Day But Today”.

September Technique Clubs

Did you think I’ve abandoned by SU! life? Hardly. I had 3 Hostess clubs this month. I knew this month was going to be a little hectic so made life a bit easier on myself and taught the same 3 techniques to all three clubs. That was a life saver!

First card:
Suspension Card
I did one similar to this at my very first SU! Halloween class 2 years ago. I love the suspension technique. It’s so simple yet looks hard.

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Carved and Candlelit, Batty for you and All Holidays
Inks: SU! Only Orange, Garden Green, Basic Black
Cardstock: SU! Only Orange, Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories: Nylon thread, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1 1/4″ circle punch, sticky strip

Second card:
Faux Foil
Sorry for the photo quality. It is gold embossed.
I love Faux Foil. Such an easy way to add an elegant touch.

Stamps: SU! Solemn Stillness, Many Merry Messages
Inks: Versamark
Cardstock: SU! Handsome Hunter, Real Red
Accessories: Gold EP, Sticky Strip

Third card:
Bouncing Brayer
OMG. I really think this technique is cool. All the time I was doing it, I was saying “Ooh, yuck, this isn’t going to work out” and then all of a sudden…. BAM! The colors are actually more vibrant than show in this picture.

Stamps: SU! Lovely as a tree, All Holidays
Inks: SU! Kaliedecolor ink pad – pumpkin; Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: SU! Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Accessories: SU! Chocolate Wide Grosgrain, Key Tab punch

Three more techniques under my belt. I love learning new stuff. Thanks for looking!
