Make ’em Smile

About six months ago (really was May SIX months ago???), we started this fun thing on the addicts board. 15 people played along. The intent was to make a card and send it on to the next person in the list, who would then sign yours and send both on to the next and so on. Well about mid way through, we realized that those at the end won’t get many signatures on theirs as it comes back to me (I started) so we changed the rules a bit and they will all be sent around again and we sign the ones that we hadn’t yet and take ours out and pass along again. Whew. Did you follow all of that?

Well, the package arrived on Thursday! I’ve signed them all (ALL of them) and removed mine. Now’s it’s going postal again. But since I am the one that had them all I took pictures and put them in a photo album over there on the right called "Make em Smile".

You ought to check it out. The samples are AWESOME. I think everyone stepped up their cards just to play this game ;). In any case, great inspiration in there!

So, to my 14 make ’em smile addicts… you made me smile and thanks so much for playing along!

Oh, here is my card. The idea was that it would take all summer to go make the rounds so I made a summer-y card… a scratch n sniff one :).

Seems funny to post a summer card the day after Halloween!

Thanks for checking in!

Happy Birthday Michelle!

Dsc_1728edited_smallToday is Michelle’s birthday. And you know how we addicts must torture, er celebrate, her 😉

She likes orange and green and Vespa girl and this sentiment… ok, really, what doesn’t she like? So, me and the other moderators of the Addicts site, tried to incorporate something with *those* criteria… Check out Jennie’s and Rhonda’s, too.

Here is my card… a little COLORFUL, I’d say…

On the bottom I used the Threading Water punch by Fiskars and then I put a strip of the orange Kitchen on the inside of the card so it’s showing through the holes.

Have the funnest birthday ever, Michelle!

First “ANNUAL” A Muse Addicts Texas Gathering

Gosh, that’s a mouthful. But it’s a true statement. Did you notice the "ANNUAL" and first in there 😉

Dsc_1772edited_smallLast night, 14 of us gathered to have a shoebox swap in honor of Ms Lexi Daly’s trip to Austin (not to be confused with Lexi Stone, who is that anyway? LOL). Lexi and I decided to show some demos, in addition to our swap cards. I’ll show my stuff next week after sneaks are over. But I wanted to share photos of the event, first.  Today is Lexi’s first 39th birthday so we surprised her with a little birthday party – Longhorn style! She and I found out last year when we met online that we both graduated from the University of Texas the same year! How cool is that?

So, we drove a long way (by we, I mean Celina that came from San Antonio!), we met, we ate, we (by we, I mean ME) drank Caffeine too late, we chatted, we laughed, we taught, we learned, we took pictures, we lost our unmarked cups many times (by we, I mean ME), we lost adhesive, we didn’t bring scissors (by we, I mean SOME of us), we shrank stuff, we stickled stuff, we punched stuff, we sang (by we, I mean THEM), we got door prizes, we stamped, and we got home way to late!

It was a great time. In the end we made 16 cards and 1 template that Lexi showed us how to do.  I’ll post the card pictures next week, too.

Special thanks to Rae Anne (Huera90) and Brenda (Sassybee) for helping organize. You ladies ROCK!

ADDICTS – Stamp of the Week Challenge

Dsc_1734edited_2It’s Monday! Around here, it’s Monday after vacation… bleck. You know how that feels. YUCK. And the countdown is on… two weeks until FIRST grade. Yikes.

Jennie, not only organizes our weekly Friday challenge, but also our SOTW challenges on Mondays. What is SOTW? Stamp of the week, of course! And yes, this all happens on the A Muse Addicts forums. Come check us out… it’s free and fun!

This week’s challenge is to use the A Muse Classic Window image and/or Boris! I made a card with each but I’ll show you Boris a little later in the week ;).

I still had my Fiskars Fingertip Control Knife out (that’s not really saying much, I pretty much have EVERYTHING out these days, it seems!) so I decided to make yet another cut out. I don’t know that this qualifies for Heather’s Spark but I’ll let her be the judge of that.  I cut the Classic Window out so that you could have a peek inside.

Happy Monday. Ugh.

Addicts Weekly Challenge

Dsc_1725_small_2
Here is another two-fer (LOL) for you!

Jennie‘s weekly challenge on the addicts forum this week is called "meeting inspiration". The challenge is to find a card from VMAA last week and use it as my inspiration.  That was easy for me because I *knew* I wanted to try a cutout card like Julie’s.  The two-fer part is that Heather’s  Spark is to do a cutout… see twofer 🙂

Here is my card. I used that bridal pose stamp again but colored it to be a formal affair that’s not a wedding.

I seem to do cutouts a lot and I absolutely love the Fiskars Fingertip Control Knife… one of my daily tools!

ADDICTS – Stamp of the Week Challenge

Did you hear that today is the start of our BIRTHDAY PARTY? Yes, it’s true, our little group of over 800 A Muse Addicts turns ONE! And we’re celebrating in style! If you haven’t joined us yet, come do so… you have to register but it’s free and we’re all inside there having a PARTY!

For the past year, Jennie, has been our challenger. Every week, Jennie challenges all of us with not one, but TWO challenges: there of course is the weekly Friday challenges and then the STAMP OF THE WEEK CHALLENGE on Mondays. She is so incredibly talented. She is the driving force behind our themes for the Virtual Meeting of the A Muse Addicts (VMAA – coming on August 2nd!).

Today is the start of our celebration! We begin with the Stamp of the Week Challenge. And did I mention prizes?? PRIZES!!! Go check out the addicts and play along!Dsc_1633a_small

Here is my card for my pick of the stamp of the week… how could I not pick "ROCK STAR"? 🙂

Austin Area A Muse Addicts — GATHERING!

My dear friend, Lexi Daly is coming to town. I thought it would be fun if I could get an A Muse party together. We are hosting a SHOE BOX SWAP for any A Muse fans that want to join us.

It’s on Thursday, August 14th at 6pm. The cost is $10 (and that includes a pizza dinner!) ALL of the details and the sign up list is on the A Muse Addicts site. I’m taking signups over there just to keep it all in one place. We are taking signups and payment for 20 people… maybe we’ll add more 🙂 Are you a member of our little (700+ members, now!) addicts group? If not, come join us … registration is free…

Anyway, I hope to see you in August at the shoe box swap!

Lots of birds with one card…

I don’t particularly like the quote "Kill two birds with one stone"… so I’m just gonna say "Lots of birds with one card".

This card fulfills so many challenges and discussions out there:
* Jennie’s Weekly Challenge on the Addicts site – the pink tiny dot paper was a scrap in my scrap boxDsc_1043_small
* Heather’s Share Your Spark Challenge – I used my giga scalloped rectangle punch here
* A post about making the little boy A Muse graduate into a girl graduate (also on the addicts site)

So, here’s my card. A friend is graduating this weekend from my Alma Mater, The University of Texas with her Master’s in Business Administration. I thought at first, I would give her this card. But I decided to make her something else (later post).

It’s as girly as I could make it. Her pink shirt and shoes sparkle!
And she has PINK nail polish, too! Do  you think I pulled it off? I dunno…

Thanks for stopping by!
