Thank you gifts … in a hurry.

Quick post today… (HA! Not used to that from me, eh?). Aren’t all my posts lately ending with "… in a hurry"? Seems like it.Dsc_1666

My mom needed some gifts for some people that have been helping her out. So, I made some quick cards for her to give. I made 16 cards each of two different designs last night. She needs to give them to 5 people (um, TODAY). So, I get to keep the 2 extra… I typically make a couple more than needed so I can keep them in my portfolio!

Oh, I pulled out some of my recently acquired but never inked up CHF stamps – I *LOVE* the pretty pattern background. LOVE IT! And I used the Fiskars Stamp Press for the first time and boy was that easy. Maybe I’ll video it and show you ;).
I couldn’t get the color exactly right in the picture but it’s SU! Lovely Lilac and Palette Hybrid Iris Ink.

Here is the other design. I have always liked this sentiment from
Stampin’ Up! And I used up all of my Purely Pomegranite CS. Yippee!

And all five packages ready to go! Each package has 3 of each card in it.

Thanks for stopping by.

It’s hot outside!

Believegns_2And I think I’m done making Christmas cards for while. LOL. Not "my" Christmas card … that would be nice, wouldn’t it?  One of my BFFs has finished hers for this Christmas already. 😛 That’s just for her, btw.

So, a couple of weeks ago, I was making a ton of Christmas cards since I had all of my AP stamps out already. And I made this card… it’s a little different than a previous one I’ve done. I cut the cityscape out (after I colored it with a grey Copic).

I so love the Santa Silhouette stamp. Well, I love the Believe sentiment too. My nephew tried to tell my son that the Tooth Fairy isn’t real. WHAT? He got all upset until I told him that I believe in the Tooth Fairy. And Santa, too.

Dare to Get Dirty ’08 – Jenn Balcer style

Jenn and I go way back… to our former lives as SU! demonstrators. Yes, she was my upline. And although we didn’t see each other that often (’cause you know we’re less that 50 miles apart! <shakes head>), we emailed, pm’ed, chatted frequently enough. So, one of the times that I did see her, she gave me a present wrapped in this wide green satin ribbon… well, it’s green and orange and a little bit of yellow (stripes) but I forgot about those other colors. Read on.

Jenn is one of the original Dirty Girls over on Splitcoast. And by dirty, I don’t mean all the "work" she has to do over there ;). If you are a member of the Splitcoast Fan Club, then you know what I mean. If you’re not, then you should look into joining. Not only does the membership help run things over there but you get access to some INCREDIBLE artwork …every single month!

So, Jenn is one of the challengers of this week long celebration over there. First Julie, and then Jenn… and A TON of other dirty girls! If only I had more time, I’d do all of the challenges!

Anyway, I made a card for Jenn’s challenge. And I completely designed the card around this ribbon… the one I had in my head, not the one that she actually gave me. Then I pulled out the ribbon. OOPS. Not all green. I needed all green. Oh well, I had some that worked. But wouldn’t it have been sweet to use the ribbon she gave me on her challenge. Would’ve been.

Dsc_1659_small Go check out the challenge in my gallery on Splitcoast. All the challenge details are over there.

Thanks for the challenge Jenn. As always, you inspire me.

There has been some fun going on over there on Splitcoast. And I had to participate in Julie‘s challenge, of course! There have been TONS of challenges this week and the gallery is open for everyone to see…check out my gallery on Splitcoast for more info on this card…

Thanks Julie for such a great challenge!

Transformers! In a hurry…

Transformers… more than meet the eyes!

Our nephew had his birthday party today. He turned FOUR the other day. Man, how fast these kids grow!

So, today’s birthday party… it was all about Transformers. We got him a couple of Transformers but then we needed to make a card. My 6 year old decided to make one too! I’m seeing a trend here people. Aren’t you? I started my card first and then he came in and said he wanted to make his cousin a card. O-KAY… and then he said, I’ll just use the same stamps you did Mom.

I thought to use the Robot kid from A Muse. That was my closest idea to a transformer and I literally had 7 minutes to get it done. I think my son’s card actually turned out better than mine — at least closer to the Transformer idea (see the helmet on his?). Hmmm. What do you think?
My card is on the left and my son’s is on the right.

Color Inspiration #17 – My SON’s version – KWerner Style

My 6 year-old son wanted to stamp with me tonight! Dare I say this is a habit, now? I’m not convinced yet… 5.75 years of not wanting to – I still need more convincing. But tonight he wanted to stamp…

So, I asked him of the four colors (Regal Rose, Red Rose, White and Sage Shadow) which he wanted as a card base. He said "GREEN".  Boys. Humpf. So, I gave him the Sage Shadow card base and then let him pick some scraps of the other three. Then I said which stamp would you like to use? Oh, the sheer delight on his face that he could use one of my "work" (i.e. A Muse) stamps! He picked the cute little penguin… although I have no idea why since it’s a 100 degrees here. Whatever.

So, here’s his rendition of Kristina Werner’s color inspiration challenge.

He didn’t want any sentiments on it. Just a bunch of penguins. And some of those TWINKLE STICKERS! He’s a bit obsessed with those. I mean, in general, not just for stamping!

Well, I think he did a smashing job. AND now he knows I’m posting this tonight. So if you would be so kind to leave him a comment, I’d certainly appreciate it and I know he’d be thrilled!

Thanks so much!

Color Inspiration #17: TAKE THREE – KWerner Style

One more… I’m telling you this color palette is familiar to me. Although, I don’t think Sage Shadow is the green I use with the Rose and Regal Reds.

The other two cards I did for this challenge were more not the A Muse style, I think. But this one, I tried to be more A Muse-y… 🙂

The eyelets are SU! and are Sage Shadow. Who knew that I had those? Apparently, not me. One day, I will use more of my stash of stuff.

You all know how much I love this image. Her dress just screams to be glittered. Of course, I think next time I use this stamp, I’ll glitter her up in a colorful party dress!

I’ll be back with one more… A VERY SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST 😉 Hope you join me!

Color Inspiration #17 – KWerner Style

These color inspiration challenges are a good exercise for me. Gets me outta my color zone. BUT this week, these are colors I’ve actually put together before!

SU’s Rose Red, Regal Rose, Sage Shadow, and Whisper White.072208colors

I was telling Michelle Clark that I did a card (for my Mom’s birthday in May 2007!!!) with these colors before… her response… "You have to make a new one!" Yeah, I know. I’m just sayin’ that these colors aren’t so foreign to me (unlike that pumpkin pie with baby colors last week – SHEESH!).

So, here’s my card. I made it in less than 15 minutes yesterday evening.
