TE Blast from the Past Blog Hop: Make it Masculine!

Two times of anything makes a pattern, right? Here I am playing along in my 2nd Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past. The theme this month is "Make it Masculine". Manly cards are hard. KISS – keep it simple, stamper! No glitter, glitz, or anything girly :).

Kraft, black, white. Certainly not girly or glitzy. The inside corner is stamped with "#1 Dad". I used the TE set: Boys Will Be Boys. You might not be able to see that the Kraft is stamped with the ties as a background. Just adds something to um, boring old Kraft. 😉

Last day of preschool is here. Teacher gifts and kid gifts are done! I'll post later. First, gotta get this "preschooler" (can't say that much longer!) off to school.

Glenda’s 100th Challenge Post

My dear friend, Glenda, is celebrating her 100 challenge post over on her blog. She asked me (along with a bunch of other really creative, crafty gals!) to help her celebrate in a blog celebration!

Glenda's Random Amusing Challenge #100 is to use red on your card or project.  Use as much or as little as you like.  Incorporate it by using paper, ink, ribbon, embellishments, whatever you like!  You must play along with the challenge to be eligible to win the blog candy.  If you play along, please leave a comment on Glenda's blog (http://papersscissorsrocks.blogspot.com) and link back to her post from your post.  If you upload to an online gallery, please use the keyword GRAC100. Here is my card to celebrate Glenda's 100th challenge and the color RED!

I don't use RED often enough. Well, except at the RED holidays – Christmas, Valentine's, etc. It's not a color in "my" palette. I remember Glenda and I talking about that in Seattle at A Muse last time we were there. It's her favorite color!

Anyway, I broke out my Unity Stamps I received before the holidays, matched with the A Muse sentiment "you make life sweet". I *heart* A Muse sentiments. Yeah, I know, I've said that before.

This card size is A2. I know you wondering why I'm mentioning that. Well, for a really long time I've only made 4 bar or smaller! So it was a bit of challenge to "fill up" the extra space. Texture. That helped. 🙂

 

Lastly, the glass dome is covered in DG3 (diamond glaze's faster drying stuff. Yeah, I don't know that it really is faster…) but it works well enough. Here is a close up:

Moxie Fab Challenge: Gray is the New Black

I got a chance to play in my first Moxie Fab Challenge: Gray is the New Black over on Moxie Fab World. The challenge is "create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates gray in an innovative way".  

I was inspired by a photo on their blog of the purple and gray kitchen. Wouldn't that be fabulous? I used gray for my card base and also for the big block background for the focal image. The sentiment is in white (but a bit hard to see in the picture… grr.).

I made wedding invitations in purple, black and white back in October. I had this purple silk May Arts ribbon from those invitations left over. It is BEAUTIFUL ribbon. 🙂

Finally, I added a bit of sparkle to the marigold with my Spicas.

Happy October!

Today is my nephew's birthday! Happy Birthday James!

WOW! It's almost been 2 months since I last posted. That has never happened before. It's pretty much a blur though. September was awful and I'm glad it's over. Let's just say I was sick (the sickest I ever remember being) for 2 1/2 weeks and I'm still not better. One lovely symptom is laryngitis. Still don't have my voice back completely. How annoying. And well, during my sickest days, we had to put my 11 year-old dog down. That truly sucked and I'm still mad that I was sick during that time and couldn't give him the proper attention. Cancer. Took him into the vet at 10am and by 5 we had to say goodbye. Ick.

Okay, well now that's over, let's get October started, shall we?

Tomorrow, Saturday is World Card Making Day! What are you doing? I'm teaching over at Memory Depot. Fun!

In other news, it's time for a new challenge over on the A Muse Lounge! New month, new challenge! It's all about Fall… Jennie is such a clever challenge hostess! I finally got to play along and here's my submission for Fall Favorites!

Cinema Saturday Challenge: Becoming Jane!

Becoming Jane is the movie this week over on the Cinema Saturday Challenge. Have you seen it? I have but want to see it again because I can't remember much of it. I thought it was on Netflix streaming but it's not so no refresher course for me this week! This summer…

 
I like Anne Hathway. And I usually like all those period type movies.

Anyway, I did want to play this week though and seeing how this week is shaping up, now is the best time to play!

The challenge requirement this week is "use flowers and pearls in your creations".

I can do that!

Cinema Saturday Challenge: New Moon!

I'm late to the party but the next challenge doesn't go up until tomorrow so am I really late? Nah… 🙂

I *absolutely HAD* to play along this week, however if your life is anything like mine these days, you are COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS UNTIL SCHOOL is out… SEVEN if anyone is keeping track. My preschooler is on day 2 of summer vaca but my 2nd grader is not quite at the finish line. Too much going on …

Anyhoo… this week's Cinema Saturday Challenge is NEW MOON. Come on? I *had* to play along. I've been  lacking in the sleep department (yes, even less than I usually run on… LOL) the past 2 or 3 weeks and I'm running on fumes now so my card is most certainly a QUICK ONE. Julie does some cards that are called 5MQ… for 5 minute quickie. I don't even think this took me 5 minutes. In fact it probably took longer to photo the whole thing! HA!

The challenge requirement was to use some silver in your creation. I'm cheating and calling gray silver here

I kept replaying the movie in my head and Jacob kept creeping into the foreground. Ew. No. So then I kept thinking of making a card but the inspiration kept coming from Twilight not New Moon. NM is my least fav of the books so I finally resorted to just an Edward card. Twilight, NM, Eclipse, whatever… inspires me to make a card about Edward. Always and forever, Team Edward. 🙂

There is cool shade Edward. My friend Amy, loves (who doesn't really) the scene in Twilight where he's wearing the shades and walks around and gets Bella outta the car. Swoon. We've only stopped, rewinded, and played that a few times. Um, no really, just a few (ok, maybe few hundred) times.

Edward sparkles. Here and in um, real life. 😉 Can you see it? Look very closely… it's the grainy looking stuff in this closeup.

For some reason I was in a big satin ribbon mood so there came the addition of the ribbon. 

I have my tickets for Eclipse already with my Twimom friends. I can't wait. The trailers look awesome. Most of my friends are not keeping up with all the details this go around so that they can be surprised in the movies. I have no such restraint. I know I won't be disappointed in the movie – I like keeping up-to-date with all that is anything Twilight!

Cinema Saturday Challenge: Oklahoma!

This week's Cinema Saturday Challenge is OKLAHOMA!  

For this week's challenge all you have to do
is to create a card, layout, altered project, etc. that is inspired by
the movie: OKLAHOMA!
The inspiration can
come from the costumes, the dialogue, the music, the themes, the
characters – anything at all from the movie!! **** The challenge
requirement for this movie is to use a little gingham in
your creation!

Here is my card for this week's challenge. My first thought when I saw this challenge was about A Muse's Calamity Jane stamp!
Isn't she cute? And she's a little bit sparkly!

Cinema Saturday Challenge

My buddy, Libby, plays along in this challenge every so often. Every time she has, I think I wanna try that challenge and never get to. BUT this time I made it work! This challenge is right up my alley… movies and stamping! WOHOO!

Okay, so I just checked the challenge website and they already have the latest one posted… well it is  called Cinema SATURDAY. So, I guess I did last week's. LOL.

This week's Saturday Cinema challenge features the movie, UP by Pixar. We've seen this movie our fair share in my house.

Challenge Requirement: must use balloons!

Mandy with balloons is perfect with the new clouds paper by A Muse, isn't it?

I tried a new product on here… It's called DG3. It is an Art Gel and made by Judikins. It's another version of the Diamond Glaze (DG) product but claims to dry faster. I think it does. I didn't time it or anything but it seems quicker than the Diamond Glaze stuff.

I'm glad I got to play along.
